Targeted support for new Entrepreneurs and new areas of employment intensive growth

Briefly, this assistance is aimed in particular at:

• Hull based,

• Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs), this may include manufacturing, services and social economy enterprises,

• under 36 months old, (this can include a start up business proposal having the potential to develop into an eligible SME before the end of the programme – Sept 2007),

• operating in new employment growth areas and those with the potential for high added value, and

• who are providing a non-local service and therefore trading outside of their local market.

For eligible projects we provide at the very least two days consultancy/coaching as follows:

a. one 2 one support where we can assist each client within, for example, one or more of the following areas of business; product/service strategy, timing, route to market, IP protection, business structure, technology & accreditation, sourcing, marketing, finance, etc,

b. group sessions where up to ten people meet with each other, perhaps for the very first time. We encourage discussion around the less confidential yet still important aspects of business - participants are able to compare and share their own experiences. These themed sessions are shared also with invited guests from the business community for example; accountant, solicitor, patent attorney, business support officer, banker, angel, university specialist. After each short presentation it’s down to the floor, but not literally of course.
